Is success subjective or personal?

Defining Success

Defining success is difficult. Not only is it difficult to measure, but, I also feel that success is entirely subjective. The definition of success is — the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

So, does that make me successful?

I’m 19 years old, and after leaving school at 16, I had an aim which I wanted to accomplish — sounds familiar. I aimed to start a business in the creative sector. From a young age, I have been interested in the business world. Little did I know, when starting this, I would struggle.

Start while you’re young, while you don’t have any commitment.

A term that I’ve heard all too many times. I may be young and not have a mortgage to pay or a family to support. But being young does have its pitfalls when it comes to starting a business. Social life is a massive part of this. I soon realised that I was pulling myself away from nights on the town and social gatherings. Starting a business takes time and a hell of a lot of commitment. Being at the end of my teens, you would have thought I would be out every night chugging down bottle after bottle. Instead, I’m sat here, writing about my potential success.

Think3 is a Creative Design agency, a business which I started with three fantastic blokes. Grant, Lee and Luke. I’ve known these three gents for just over three years, and I met all of them during my first employment. We’ve become family, we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, we piss each other off all too often but, at the end of the day we makeup and we crack on. And that is why our business works. For all of us, this journey is new, and there are complications and bridges that we have to cross. But we do it together. We have each other to lean on and learn from.

While success is subjective, personally, I feel I am successful. I have accomplished my aim of starting a business. And I am happy that, to me, makes me successful.
